I'm not much for blogging, but had to share. Decided to check out the Dollys to see if they were hitting here on the Chilkat. In the mid 40's today with sunshine didn't think any fish in their right mind would bite...they never do unless it's raining cats and dogs or colder than __ with a wind chill factor of -40. Driving up to around the 20-25 mile area there was a Trumpter swan that hangs out in the 12 mile stretch. Decided to try my luck under the white headed buzzard, well he didn't bother me even after I caught a 20 incher, but did make a fly over just in case I wasn't watching.
Using my best technique (I mean how much technique is needed with a spinning rod anyway...?), I seemed to be getting a lot of wet line and nothing else. Glanced over to my left and noticed a ripple at the waters edge about 5' just the other side of that one Dolly I had on a couple of tiewraps (hey who needs a stringer?). Staring at me was a Mink deciding whether or not to make a grab and run tactic on my only catch! Told him to "beat it", well he just went behind a rock and waited... I decided if I wanted to keep the fish one of us had to leave, when he dove in for a sneak underwater attack, I left with my supper and not his.
Well I made it home and the wife had chili ready for supper...oh she of little faith. She was obliging and we had fish, chili is for another day.
Probably asking what this has to do with my photography?? When it's a shot of a Mink stealing my Dolly or me having it for supper, guess who comes first?
