Has any one been to MacCarthy or Kennecott AK?

I was looking at the website for St Elias Alpine Guides and there are some interesting trips. Has any one been to these places or used this group? Is any one interested in doing a 4-9 day trip with a guide? Any info on trips to places with abandoned mines and guides would be appreciated. I am just looking into options if you know of any place with info on the www send me a link. If you are interested in going on a trip and would like to get a group togather let me know or if you are already going on a trip to the outback?

McCarthy/Kennicott area is one of my favorites. I love to bring my mountain bike to travel between the two places. Be prepared, it is a 60 mile drive on a gravel road from Chitna to McCarthy. A short drive down the canyon to O'Brian Creek in Chitna may be worth it also. Be sure and stop at Liberty Falls about 10 miles outside of Chitna. This is my favorite campground.

    Enjoy our state.

I love the Kennicott/McCarthy area. I've taken several day-trips with St. Elias Alpine Guides. They run a great outfit. Run by Wayne Marrs. We've hiked out on the Root Glacier a couple of times--and take the Mill Tour in Kennicott with S.E.A.G.
We like staying at Kennicott Glacier Lodge, although McCarthy Lodge also is very nice. Looking forward to returning this summer. s

This definitely sounds interesting. And I would love to get together with everyone again. However, I'm tapped for this year. Perhaps in 2009. I would love to get together again then. Perhaps a winter trip to Alaska???
