    Last-minute special Seattle-Anchorage for $253rt

Thursday, April 17, 2008, 03:13 PM AKST [General]

There is a last-minute special on Continental Airlines between Anchorage and Seattle. The cost is $253 a.i. (all-in, including taxes and fees). Travel outbound (in either direction) on Sat., Apr. 19. Return on Mon. or Tue., Apr. 21 or Apr. 22. This is a great deal!

When you go to Seattle, you'd be smart to get a copy of the Seattle TourSaver. It's the 2-for-1 book with all the cool stuff in Seattle: tours, activities, admissions, etc.

    New fees for baggage

Friday, April 4, 2008, 01:45 PM AKST [General]

I'm really upset with the airlines that charge $25 for the second piece of checked luggage. The following carriers are on my "s" list:

    a. Delta Air Lies . Delta is one of my least-favorite airlines--and thie decision to charge $25 for the second peice of luggage confirms my disdain for their poor excuse at customer relations.

    b. Northworst. No price is too high, especially for their flights in/out of MSP. OMG. And now this: the $25 fee. Do you hear that loud sucking sound? Yeah--me too.

    c. Untied Air. Pity the poor traveler that relies on Untied. These bozos were the first to assess this stupid fee. Jerks.

    d. USAir. I tried to come up with some insulting little name for USAir. But they don't need one. I avoid this airline at almost all costs.

    e. Continental. The Houston-based carrier today announced they will follow the pack and institute this charge. Lame. Totally lame. Disgusting development for an otherwise upstanding airline. Losers.

OKOK. Now for the good guys:

    a. Alaska Airlines. So far, so good. Alaska is under tremendous pressure, but I'm thankful they have not yet caved to "conventional" wisdom put forth by the Loser Airlines listed above. Plus, they've got a great fare sale going on for a couple more days. If you're traveling between now and June 12, you should grab a couple of these fares. I did.

Big fare war going on now.

Thursday, March 27, 2008, 08:20 AM AKST [General]

There's a big fare war for travel in/out of Alaska between now and June 12. There are some really good deals. Of course, some deals are better than others.

Anchorage-L.A. on Alaska Airlines: $455 roundtrip all summer long.

Anchorage-New York on Delta: $525 roundtrip all summer long.

If you know your dates, don't wait to scoop up these fares. Remember, these rates include all taxes and fees. USTravel's ticketing charge of $38 is additional. You may find their service valuable to track down those cheap seats! Call (907)561-2434.
