Miscellaneous Imagery from Recent Trips
Often when I'm out on various assignments, or travels in general, I end up taking images that weren't part of the days work but were unique opportunities that happened to present themselves and I just happened to be there. A lot of times these aren't worthy of a blog in themselves so they just sit around until I find the time to accumulate several and get them to my various stock outlets. here is a batch of images "grabbed" during recent outings. Therer's a little bit of experimentation in here as well!
Photographer, and good friend, Brian Adams- Matanuska Glacier.
Matanuska Glacier and Chugach Mountains. I used two Graduated Neutral Density Filters (for a total of five stops of underexposure) to darken the bright sky and add drama to the scene.
Wayde Carroll (Me) taking the previous image.

Chugach Mountains near Sutton.
Pretty as a postcard!
Chikaloon Cabin- the quintessential Alaskan scene!
I was out scouting photo locations for a deck company and couldn't resist this Anchorage hillside road after a heavy snowfall.
This moose cow was just up on the road from the previous image. She was pulling down small branches to munch and would get a face full of snow every time.
Bohemian Waxwing eating Mountain Ash berries. There were fifty of these guys right out side my front door. I like that the snow is falling.
Ice chunks at low tide, Turnagain Arm, Cook Inlet.
(This looks like it's B&W but it's in color!)
My son Jack exploring a rock wall covered in ice along the Seward Highway.
Having a person in this scene helps to add scale.
This was me playing around with HDR (High Dynamic Range) imagery. This is a process where you combine several different exposures to create one image. This allows you to even out highlights and shadows that you couldn't really capture in one shot.- Yes, I waited to get a car coming by in that spot!
Sailboarder on Portage Lake!
Anchorage Museum.
Marvin, Pinnacle Mountain RV Park.
Good Breakfast!
My daughter Claire! Sledding in Girdwood.
