The "Rich Coast": Costa Rica Photo Safari 2009
(Part 1)
I just returned from another incredible photo trip in Costa Rica. I was thrilled to be able to lead a small group of photographers to one of my favorite places again this year.
I have so many images I love that I couldn't justify them all in one blog so I'll split them up into a few categories. Below are some of the wildlife images taken during the eight day trip. These images encompass a wide variety of techniques and lenses. From macro to 500mm (thanks Ed!) lenses, Costa Rica allows a photographer unlimited opportunities to practice "seeing" in a variety of ways.
Ambient light, off camera flash as a main light, fill-flash, flash extenders, and reflectors, were all used to bring out the most from our subjects.
Combine the stunning surroundings with unique, traditional styled lodging, great local foods, the always pleasant local people, or "Ticos", with our great naturalist guide- Marco Fallas, and driver- Marco Soto, and you come up with a trip that's very hard to beat.
It was wonderful as well that our group, Denise, Ed, Marjorie, and I, all got along so well that we laughed almost as much as we photographed. It was great to share photos and to marvel at the way we all saw different things within the same areas. I could see all of us experimenting and growing as artists with each passing day. Everyone had valuable insights that made it a learning experience for all.
Ok, here are some photos!!!

These are so cool! As I was admiring your pics, I was reliving the entire trip!
deniseThe monkey picture is incredible. I didn't realize how much of their teeth were showing!
Where was the bug picture taken?
I'm still editing....been traveling for work. Quite frankly, I'd rather be editing!
